Searching for the Meaning of "Exemplary"

In search of a true meaning of the word "Exemplary"

Many a times, we read at least thru articles, books or even work emails, you come across a new word or its usage. Due to our busy schedule or mere laziness, we assume the meaning of the word and move on. Very less chances of digging deep to find the true meaning, and its usage in personal and professional conversation.

This week, the word stuck in my mind is EXEMPLARY...

Never used this word in my conversation before...  I have to shameless accept " I have not used it" or no else used it on me.
Basically I did not face a situation that I need to go search for that word.

Last week I have to do a presentation when Executives 2 levels above my Boss are present across different regions and time zones. Now you can understand my anxiety. I have been working on this presentation for 4 weeks to have the perfect format and content. not too lengthy.. Lengthy enough that I don't need to memorize every key word.
I finished up the presentation siting in my Boss office( I choose to attend in his office) so I get ques to go so or fast. First time right!in this role. I was confident because I had a good grip on the content and agenda of the presentation.

Walking away from his office, little happy that I did not screw up any thing. Stayed on time and content was clearly addressed.. Basically concept was sold...

I asked my boss, "Was I OK" he said Good Enough for the first timer!!!

Day continued to look at other assignments on my desk.. Yeah days goes on right..

The next day later I receive an email ( My Boss is copied on it) ... Not to brag.. Some of the key words used are "Format and methodology, Risk clearly identified, very professional, thorough understanding.

Little sigh of relief that analytical approach to the presentation deck worked... Thanks to my IIM PGDBM

The cute little note from my boss's Boss " Outstanding Exemplary work"
Before reacting to it, opened Google.... to find the meaning...

Even though I have studied all thru my education in an English medium convent. I kind of knew it is a positive word, but still  I wanted to react only after finding the meaning.
I wanted to say Thank you "BIG BOSS"

Few days I get an email from my old team mate. He said he attend some kind of training on Supervisory skills and was introduced to the terminology " Leadership" He also said he was able to relate to me when the instructor was explaining Good leadership with Examples.. It was too much of a flattering email for me.
But closing the email with "You had been an exemplary leader/boss and you are a great inspiration to me." made my Day..

I wanted to say to him thanks for being in my team ... for inspiring me, for motivating me. Thanks for supporting me in all my work adventures... All the best

My Learning.....
Small appreciation messages goes a long way in Motivation.. I should do more of it
